Bezoar from Llanidloes Museum - This is a ball of matter which the cow was unable to digest. When made of hair, this is known as a trichobezoar. In the cow’s stomach, the matter begins to mineralise, giving it this odd appearance. Bezoars were once valued highly as an antidote to poison. Scientific studies have shown that they do have a neutralising effect on arsenic compounds.
