RARE REAL ANTIQUE APOTHECARY BEZOAR BARREL. A bezoar is a ball of hair (trichobezoar) or plant material (phyotobezoar) or a mix of both that forms in the GI tract of some mammals. It is kind of like a pearl from a mammal. Historically, these were believed to have medicinal powers and were purchased in apothecary shops and often consumed as medicine. Today, bezoars are still found in animals such as cows, pigs, and horses, but they are pretty rare.
